We had another very nice dining experience at the Hunt Club. Beautiful place, attentive staff, good food. Our group had salads, fish, steak and lobster (Two lobster tail for $40 seems pretty reasonable for a place like this). They didn't have the creme brulee sampler we had last year so we skipped desert. We thought it was a dressier place and wore nicer pant outfits but lots of customers wore nice shorts and all the staff was dressed in nice blue jeans - I don't remember that from our previous visit. We will be back - perhaps in shorts. Still among our Lake Geneva fine dining favorites including: 1. Geneva Inn (Grandview Restaurant) 2. Abbey Springs 3. Hunt Club

Have eaten here several times over the past few years. They changed significantly a few yrs back mostly for the better. It's been a work in progress for the past two years but my last two dinners here were quite good. Solid four. Very comprehensive wine list for vino lovers. From sub 50 to bank breaker. Also several taps for us beer drinking folk. I have had steaks here and always good. Cooked the way I like and good size. Salads and sides are good too. View overlooks the player golf course on a par three that plays over a small lake. Kinda fun to watch folks hit the water and others nailing great shots. Only non positive comment is its still trying to find itself. Is it fine dining? Country club dining? Casual dining? Folksy? all of the above? Some of the above and different each time. Hope they figure out what they want to be and work to be that. They have potential.

Great food but when I asked for "medium rare" I got a well done..oh well. Everything else was wonderful.

I have been here multiple times and now feel compelled to write a review. I really like this place. Service is good. And food is consistent. Good steaks and other choices. Definitely improving since a year ago. Really nice wine list with all price levels. View of the golf course is fun especially when watching players who aren't as skilled as Tiger. Winter dinners are my favorite next to the real wood fire place. Decor is rustic and relaxing. Worth the drive 12 minutes from downtown Lake Geneva if you are looking for a quality night out.

I had a great experience here. The house itself is so cute and it makes you feel like you're entering some sort of country club. The inside has a sleek, modern/home environment; Romantic and a bit dark. We had a 9:30 reservation but were able to come in at 8:30 after calling and checking if there was availability. It didn't look too crowded when we came. The woman on the phone was very nice and accommodating. The prime rib was great, however, i thad a bit too much fat for my liking. Otherwise, great flavor. Parmesean risotto was tasty. Calamari was good, your average. The creamed spinach wasn't the best. Overall good experience and no complaints other than the fat on the steak and creamed spinach. Staff was good. This place is good for a date night. The views would be great had it not been pitch black and winter...haha.

Living in downtown Chicago, you become a food snob. I said IT, the food is so good in Chicago you expect restaurants to let you down. This place,I love. get a steak, get a nice bottle of wine and get an amazing home made desert. this place rocks. anytime I come to lake Geneva, I have to eat here at least a couple of times. amazing. staff is quirky but know their stuff. They make you feel like your special and it really shows. having been here now over 13 times I felt it was enough data to build review and share all my findings. Enjoy :).

Great ambiance and our server was very knowledgeable. Food was amazing, I would make sure to go back when I am in Lake Geneva.

Expensive, hit-or-miss food; GREAT waiter; BAD manager and front-desk hostess. I can't find myself returning as there are other options and I don't have to be condescended to (for what reason, exactly?) by the staff. Like I said, this is no reflection on our waiter who was fantastic and charming.

Man I love this gem. It is located in a weird location but I am so glad I found it. On Monday they do a great prime rib special and they always cook it perfectly. It is pricy but I am willing to pay for the good food. Also I ordered a bottle of Bella Gloss and at the store it is about $40 and theirs was $60 which was a great price for restaurant normally it is $80. I can't wait to go back

We came here to celebrate Valentine's Day a week later since we were staying at Geneva National. What a fantastic experience, from the valet, to the quaint look of a home's exterior to the rustic charm inside. And then the food, you have to have the colossal crab cake...delish and a great starter for two. Then I had probably the best salmon I've had in my life and I am a serious seafood fan, my girlfriend had a wonderful duo medallions and we shared a fantastic Parmesan risotto. Our server was fantastic, I wish I could remember her name to give her full credit, everyone catered to us. The only misstep was the two fifty dollar bottles of wine that we bought that we're screw tops...very nice, but a little hinky for a $100. We would drive to Lake Geneva just to eat here....and that's a 45 minute ride. You should go....now.

Very disappointed. Could not have had a worse experience. It gets two stars because the food was decent but overshadowed by the extremely poor service. We started with a nice bottle of Oregon Pinot but that took twenty minutes to request because we never saw our server. My inner voice told me to get up and leave and I failed to listen. While I enjoy having a relaxed atmosphere and not being rushed, dinner took two and a half hours. We waited thirty-five minutes between appetizers and delivery of our steaks. Our server was unprofessional but experienced and that was all the more disappointing. When you've clearly failed to deliver, step up and figure it out. Not only were we disappointed but it was clear that nearly every table was in the same spirit. Too bad as we had high hopes. Oh yeah, the steaks were good, and quite flavorful and the wine list was exceptional for this area. When the best thing is the wine list I can make other choices.

I've been to the Hunt Club Steakhouse twice recently and had a great experience on both trips. The steaks are great, the service was excellent and the view is spectacular.

This was my first time eating at the Hunt Club. I have to say that I wasn't too impressed. I thought the service could have been much improved. There was a 25 minute wait while we were sitting at our table before our waitress took our drink orders. I had the two lobster tail dinner and wanted to exchange the mashed potatoes for the the truffle fries and had to pay full price for the truffle fries instead of nominal exchange fee or even better, a free substitution. It's restaurant week and I wanted the brownie and I wasnt alllowed to purchase just the brownie amd had to order off the regular men which had a lot of extras I didn't want on the brownie. My complaint is the waitress doesn't make the attempt to accommodate our table. The best thing about this place is the nice guy at the door. He was very friendly and genuinely cared about our experience. I most likely will be trying other restaurants next time.

Come for the atmosphere, views, drinks and service. If you come for the food, good luck. Talk about hit or miss! I was here last night with my family, 6 adults and my daughter. I was extremely impressed with the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and the views were exceptional (if you are okay with looking at a LOT of trees and a beautifully manicured golf course. Service was great and the night was starting off great until the unexpected food bombs that came out :( Apps: Mussels and the Calamari. Both were fresh, the calamari was cooked perfectly. The mussels were cooked in an amazing white sauce but unfortunately there were broken shells everywhere so we had to be careful eating it to not bite down on a broken piece of shell. They could have washed the mussels a little more too, there was a slight grittiness to them and in the sauce. Bread - the brown bread is yummy! French Onion Soup - DISASTER. I love french onion soup and this literally was like eating wine. It was bland, no flavor, no onion taste, just the taste of wine. It was really disappointing. Both my dad and I couldn't take more than a couple of spoonfuls. At least they didn't charge us for them .... Salads - Caprese and Hey there Spring - both were beautifully presented and both were very delicious Entrees: Full rack of BBQ ribs - yummy, falling off the bone, truffle fries ... enough said The Tower - Great for veggie lovers, the veg was grilled perfectly, only fail was the quinoa on the bottom ... under seasoned and bland. Cornish Hen - My dad thought this was so so. It was very dry and bland as well. Sides: Brussel Sprouts - YACK the same guy making the alcohol french onion soup is making the brussel sprouts. All alcohol ... you don't even know you're eating brussel sprouts .. just alcohol ... arrgh!! Gnocchi - tasty ... not as pillowy as I have had at other restaurants, but decent. This is a great place to meet friends, have a drink and some yummy appetizers but that's all I would do here.

Three is what it deserves. Service and view really nice. Prime rib was so-so and a bit tough. Not what you expect from a steak house! Tartar and goT cheese appetizers both very good. Our server very good. But overall for the total price is the meal...disappointed. Medusa the best time.

We keep wanting to like this restaurant. The food and atmosphere is good and it is very convenient as we have a house in Geneva National. Unfortunately the service is inconsistent. Last night hit a real low. Our waitress was nice. That is as far as I can go with a complement. The bartender let me take a taste of a wine and never came back to ask me what I wanted while I was waiting for our table. She then proceeded to charge me for a glass of wine that I never received. It took 45 minutes after being seated to get bread, 1 hour and 10 minutes to get our salads and over and hour and 45 minutes to get dinner. By then, we were tired and cranky. To top it off, our meals did not come together. To top off the evening, the bill was wrong. Even though I went to the host desk to see if we could speed up dinner, nothing occurred. As we left, the host said " I hope you enjoyed your dinner". Really ? Wow.

Amazing Filet, Piss poor Prime Rib. Also under cooked and crunchy risotto.

Fine dining at the ultimate yuppie (or whatever the 2012 snobbish equivalent is) level. When you prefer your vegetable described as 'heirloom' or as a 'precious puree' - this is the place for you! Very attentive but unpretentious servers minimize the snooty factor here. Your food is presented, not served and your crumbs will be actually crumbed (swept away with a specific device before you can slide them onto the carpet). Food is fantastic! You can go casual, a la the freshly drunken golf crew or the chi-chi date dress-up route - either works here. Just be aware that this probably isn't the place to stop in for a burger (unless it's Kobe, sitting atop a sculptured pile of gorgonzola essenced pomme frites, and priced over $30). Oh yeah, noise level was quite UP! Dining room was fairly full and bar was empty but we had to really speak loudly and lean in to enjoy conversation. Surprising for the atmosphere.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had reservations for a group of 16 ~1 week before my arrival. The place was really busy for a Saturday evening. We only had 1 server assigned to our table. She was extremely slow. It took over 2 hrs for our food to come. I had an 8oz salmon with sautéed spinach. Salmon actually wasn't that bad however the spinach tasted like it was marinated in a box Morton's table salt for 8 days. Also that dish is $32. Others in my party suffered from undercooked pasta. Along with overpriced Caesar salad in which members of my party had to cut up their own lettuce. I'm certain there are better places to dine in Lake Geneva.

Chef Stewart has brought this club a long ways to the top again. His food is warm and rich with flavors that we haven't found in a long time. Chef's fresh beets salad with feta cheese and greens was delicious..We had a Women's Entrpreneur meeting there and all of us were captivated bye the entrees we selected. The Hungarian Goulash was exceptional..My chicken dish with a beautiful cream sauce with homemade pasta was excellent. Chef's bar menu is inviting as well as he pairs different ingredients to turn his hamburgers into gourmet. Janette A Maxwell

The wife and I had a chance to escape for a weekend in August at Geneva Ridge for our anniversary in August. This is one of the restaurants affiliated with the resort. It is "offsite" although I believe you could catch the shuttle. We had made reservations for our anniversary but had to cancel as we got a late start that evening. Luckily after many phone calls we were able to get "squeezed in" on our second night. They were having a large party that evening so we had to get a very early reservation. I believe it was around 4:30. When we arrived it was clear we were extremely overdressed (sportcoat and dress pants for me) But hey, it was a special occasion. They sat us at a table with a gorgeous view of the golf course. Unfortunately, it was also right next to the bar which was fairly loud with local residents enjoying their evening. The wine menu is amazing! Everything you could possibly want priced from $40 to a few thousand a bottle! With this kind of list one would expect a Sommelier knowledgeable about the selection, but no such luck. Maybe it was to early? We ordered our meals and I did the best I could with the wine list, settling on something in the $75 range if memory serves. My wife raved about the french onion soup. I had a bone in New York strip that was very well prepared with a double baked potato that may have been the best I ever had! When the waitress stopped to see how everything was I think I startled her when I said "You didn't tell me there were bacon bits in the potato" She asked if that was a problem? I remember laughing out loud - "Are you kidding - it's bacon!" Overall a wonderful meal. But this place has a definite identity crisis. They can't figure out if they are a casual bar for the locals, an upscale restaurant or a place for private parties. Hard to have a connected conversation because of the noise. Hard to get a reservation at a decent hour due to the parties.

Long wait despite reservations. Loud dining room. Average food overall. Nothing was inedible by any means. Some of it was very good, while some of it was average. Seems like one of those places that could be hit or miss. 2.5 stars.

My review is not based off the food which I will assume is good. We went to the hunt club to celebrate buying a new home. Before sitting down we noticed how loud it was. This restaurant has a major identity crisis. You can't be fine dining and a sports bar all rolled into one. The layout is a ring of white table cloth clad tables running around the perimeter of a very loud bar. Not the environment you want for an intimate dinner and for $40 entrees. We asked the waitress if we could be moved to the other room and she said no because the loud group at the bar would be seated in the other room in about 20 minutes. We left without even unfolding our napkins. Go to the Grand Geneva or Soprano for good food with an atmosphere to match.

yawn. We came here with a group of 10 individuals and were disappointed. Food was average (had bone in KC). Wait staff was very inattentive, took a while for drinks to be ordered and delivered. Chairs were pure wood, no backing to them. I'm 30ish years old and my back hurt after the meal. The room was also very warm and after repeated attempts to cool it down, nothing ever happened.

Region 1 Dinner on 6/11/14. Set menu with appetizer, salad, entree and dessert - too much food. Calamari was very delicious, steak was overlooked. Sub fresh berries for dessert choices.

My wife and I were looking forward to spending the night of August 4 with my sister and brother-in-law dining at the Hunt Club Restaurant in Lake Geneva. Imagine our disappointment when we discovered a part of our dinner had not been included on the plate. My wife and I both ordered the Duck Two Ways which the menu lists as including an open-faced ravioli. Neither of us had the ravioli on our plates and when we brought it to the attention of our waiter he checked with the chef and found out that they had run out of raviolis earlier in the evening. This is understandable, as the dish is described deliciously. What is not understandable is that the chef sent out plates of (expensive) food that did not have all the components. It appeared that he was trying to sneak this by us. We should have been informed of the lack of ravioli when we ordered and they could have suggested a substitute or another dish. I pointed this out to the waiter and he agreed and was apologetic but the price of the dish was not reduced on our bill nor was any other type of compensation offered. I wasn't looking for a free meal but at $37 a plate we should have been given something. Due to this unfortunate event and the way it was (not) handled we won't be returning to the Hunt Club nor will we recommend it to our friends and visitors. I understand that mistakes happen but how you handle these mistakes is what makes people return to your restaurant.

This is the best restaurant I have eaten at in the Lake Geneva area. Pretty restaurant, pretty setting. Great menu and food. Prices seemed reasonable (though I did not pay, so not sure). Food was very very good. We would definately come back here again.

I'm kind of shocked by the poor reviews of this restaurant. We went there this Saturday for date night and had a magical evening! The restaurant is beautiful, with gorgeous views. We were seated in a spacious round booth, which was comfortable and intimate. We had superior service and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Pre-dinner cocktails were generous, and the wine list is fantastic. We loved our salads (Spring salad and caprese). Both were beautifully presented and delicious. I had the Saturday prime rib special with mushrooms on the side, and it was perfectly cooked, tender and wonderful. My husband had the bone-in ribeye with grilled asparagus and decided it was every bit the equivalent of a fine Chicago steakhouse.

love the atmosphere here. Good view and very romantic and secluded feel. I feel privacy in this place and the food is good! Grilled shrimp is to die for.
